This is the first photograph ever published using an original photographic print. The photograph is a salt print, black-and-white. There is foxing to the plate it is mounted on. Beneath the photograph, handwritten in pencil, there is a caption reading: "Hancock House Boston: An Original Sun Picture". The remainder of the volume is illustrated with wood engravings and facimiles of autographed letters. The binding brittle and beginning to split towards tail. There is sunning to the edges of the grey cloth bound and gilt embossed cover. There is an inscription to the owner on the ffep, dated Jan. 1st 1854. Very Good Cloth (Item ID: 107718)
