Abbott - President of the Boston Public Library Board of Trustees during the library's relocation to Copley Square, in 1895 - to the fpd of each vol. In great condition overall. Sunning to spines, light rubbing and uneven application of blue tint to vellum boards. Leather title labels are worn, with small chips missing from the labels of two volumes. Very minor foxing to some endpapers, otherwise the interiors are clean and tight. "...includes nearly all that is known to be left to us of the ancient ballads of England and Scotland, with a liberal selection of those which are of later date."
