Systema Horti-culture: or, The Art of Gardening.
London: Will. Freeman, 1700. 278+ pp. 12mo. Leather-bound volume, with four raised bands and faded gilt decoration to the spine, blind decoration to boards, and dentelle fore-edges. Rebacked many years ago, with newer leather showing at the spine ends and joints and dark spotting to the original leather suggestive of an acid-wash technique. Corners are rubbed and bumped, original leather boards are rubbed along the edges and lightly damp-stained/soiled, original leather of spine is worn. Slight bowing to front board, very light insect damage to fpd and ffep. Previous owner's neat ink handwriting to front endpapers and very slightly to rpd, minor soiling to textblock and scattered pgs. Interior otherwise remarkably clean and bright. Includes b&w illustrations throughout. "Arts as well as Habits, are subject to that Fate of being in Mode, as might be instanced in several, besides this curious Art of Horti culture: which never declines when once it is become National, only varies in Form, according to the several temporary Humours of such that place their Oblectations in it." Very Good Hard Cover (Item ID: 119739)
