Text in French. Handsome leather-bound set, with five raised bands to spines, bright gilt borders to covers around center decoration, all edges gilt, inside dentelle, ribbon bookmarks, and marbled endpapers. Bookplate of Samuel A.B. Abbott - President of the Boston Public Library Board of Trustees during the library's relocation to Copley Square, in 1895 - to the fpd of each vol. Approx. 150 beautiful, bright chromolithographs in the first two vols. Spines lightly sunned, gilt of top edges slightly faded, light scuffing to boards, fraying to bookmark ends. Minor foxing to title pgs and margins, slight offsetting from plates. Otherwise in great condition.
