Pp. 113-114 closed 2" tear at spine/interior corner; pp. 115-116 missing 1" chip bottom interior corner, no text missing. Frontispiece portrait: engraving. Ms. Eldridge's father was a freeman who fought in the Revolution, the son of an African taken into slavery from Zaire; her mother was Narragansett. This book was published by her friends and employers in Providence to help Elleanor replace the loss of her property, taken unfairly by creditors. Appendix contains further testamonials and poems. The last four leaves are facsimile reproductions, not original leaves. Good. Item #4004
