In nice condition overall, with fold-out maps and illustrations to all 8 vols, and a rear pocket of maps in Vol. 2. First 5 vols published consecutively between 1913 and 1932, Vol. 6 pub. later, in 1971; appendix accompanies Vol 1 (1913). All vols. of set first printings. Shelfwear to all boards, bindings lightly shaken, pencil notation to fpds. Slight foxing to textblocks of Vols. 2, 4 and 5. Vols 1, 3: heavier foxing and some soiling to textblocks, offsetting/browning to endpapers; light foxing scattered throughout Vol. 1. Appendix: minor foxing to first few pgs, hinge cracked; pgs and plates crisp and bright. Only Vol. 6 has dj, lightly shelfworn. "A Brief History...(2nd ed.)" is lightly age-discolored, with rough-cut pgs and edgwear to dj. Very Good Cloth (Item ID: 122795)
